A ceremony was held at Lollycock’s Field in Sleaford when the local Civic Trust chairman Eddy Double planted an alder tree to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.

The field, off Eastgate, is owned by North Kesteven District Council and is recognised as a Local Nature Reserve and an important habitat for many species of plants and animals under threat.

Committee member Ivan Barnes said: “The planting of a tree was to commemorate the Jubilee.

“Nearly 20 of us were there to watch it be planted.”

Mike Lock from NKDC joined Mr Double in the actual planting ceremony.

The idea was suggested by Mr Barnes four months ago, to do something to mark the Jubilee.

“We approached the reserve and they helped us with the organising and then digging the hole,” explained Mr Barnes.
