Doubly good weekend for Sleaford Sainsburys
SHOPPERS had the chance to do a good deed and to hold the Paralympic Torch during the weekend.
Sleaford’s Sainsbury’s store were publicising the A Million Meals Appeal during Saturday and Sunday, a nationwide food drive run by Sainsbury’s and charity FareShare, where customers were invited to donate an item from the special shopping list, which will be passed on to charities dedicated to tackling poverty in the UK.
The amount of food collected during the weekend is still being counted up.
Then on Sunday, as part of the Sainsbury’s Paralympic Torch’s 400 Store Tour, Sleaford’s branch of the supermarket received a flying visit from the iconic Torch. Visitors and shoppers were given the opportunity to have their photo taken with it and to hold it, which attracted a lot of interest from customers.
Debbie Wrightson, store manager, said: “I was proud to have a part of the Paralympic games in store and to see the response and interest from the community was exceptional.”
