Failed bid for second bridge on cycle link

LINCOLNSHIRE County Council has been unsuccessful in bidding for additional money to fund enhancement works for cyclists heading into Sleaford from Holdingham.

Cycling promotion organisation Sustrans had already secured BIG Lottery funding to create a cycle link from Leasingham over a rebuilt farm bridge spanning the A17. The final section of that work is due to be finished this year to complete the link as far as Carre’s Grammar School.

To enhance this, the county council had put in a bid for money towards a new footbridge over the railway line near to Galley Hill bridge to try to have a fully continuous route which was cycle friendly.

However, this bid has been unsuccessful.

The other works will still go ahead, as they form part of the Sustrans Big Lottery scheme.

This will include cycle friendly crossings being put in at York Road across its junction and on Lincoln Road, south of Stokes Drive.
