Good luck message to competitors

NORTH Kesteven District Council have extended best wishes to each of the district’s villages that are taking part in the Lincolnshire Best Kept Villages and Small Towns competition.

Judging for the annual competition, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, will get under way in the next few weeks.

Last year North Kesteven was home to two winners – Coleby and South Kyme. This year around 20 villages from up and down the district are taking part.

District council leader Coun Marion Brighton said: “We wish all of these villages the very best of luck and look forward to the results.

“We also offer many congratulations to the organisers of the Best Kept Villages and Small Towns competition in this their 50th year.

“While this competition is hard-fought and taken very seriously by all involved, and rightly so, everyone comes out a winner.

“The competition brings out the very best of all that is great about North Kesteven; beautiful countryside and fantastic community spirit that together help to create a quality of life that ranks as one of the highest in the country.”

Villages set to take part in the competition from North Kesteven are: South Kyme, Bracebridge Heath, Heckington, Metheringham, Ruskington, Skellingthorpe, Waddington, Washingborough, Bassingham, Digby, Leasingham, Nocton, North Scarle, Potterhanworth, Kirkby la Thorpe, Osbournby, Silk Willoughby, Swaton, South Kyme and Coleby.
