Green light for parish hall project

IT is all systems go with a major project to improve community facilities for residents of three small villages near Sleaford.

The Hut to Hall Project has been working to raise enough funding to replace the parish hall currently sited in Aisby and which also serves residents in Oasby and Aisby.

Norman Hatcliff, chairman of the project was delighted to announce that on September 20, the Big Lottery Fund confirmed they had been granted formal permission to proceed with the Hut to Hall Project. He explained: “This means that we are now able to appoint Lindum Group, our preferred contractors, who expect to start on site in early October this year, with completion scheduled for the end of May 2013.”

The final project cost, including design, planning, demolition, site clearance, construction, fixtures and fittings is £688,000. This will be funded by a combination of sources: £500,000 from the Big Lottery Fund, £75,000 from WREN - the landfill tax grants scheme, £25,000 from Lincolnshire County Council, £10,000 from Garfield Weston, £667 from South Kesteven District Council and over £77,000 from the community fundraising effort.

Mr Hatcliff said: “We have reached a significant milestone with Hut to Hall; the concept of an idea that was initially discussed over three and a half years ago is at last becoming a reality. There is no doubt that this could not have been achieved without the professional guidance of Focus, our lead consultants, the untiring support from the management committee, the wide range of help from volunteers in our fund raising activities and the continued support, interest, belief and generosity from our community.”

The final event scheduled to take place in The Hut will be a Pre-Demolition Party on Saturday October 6 (tickets £10 each), and a hall clearance event taking place from 12noon until 2pm on Sunday October 7.

The parish hall committee will be organising events and activities throughout the construction period.
