Haulage firm’s application approved
Adjustments to a controversial planning application have been approved by council planners.
An original application was submitted by MC Mountain & Sons in September for part of their land to be used as storage for 58 lorry tractor units, 82 HGV trailers and 12 public service vehicles, which was approved by North Kesteven District Council’s planning committee subject to conditions.
This adjustment approved by the planning committee revised the section 106 agreement to give the company some flexibility, so for example if they stopped having 12 public service vehicles on site they could allow 12 extra lorry tractor units instead.
The haulage company’s plans had met with much opposition from the residents of Silk Willoughby due to the levels of noise from the HGVs driving past their houses.
Objector Alan Wilson, of London Road, said: “What are the residents going to get out of this? Forty-four-ton lorries going through the village at 4am, is this fair?
“Would you like to be woken at 2am every night and then every 15 minutes after that?”
Coun Geoff Hazelwood, who lives on Grantham Road, said: “A percentage of the vehicles go down there. I’m 10 yards from the road and I do hear the vehicles, as long as it is kept so no more vehicles can go down that road, I don’t have a problem.”
