Jubilee plans are taking shape
BAD PARKING - The parish council received correspondence from the Wesleyan Chapel on Eastgate about a vehicle which parks inconsiderately across the dropped kerb which is normally used by visitors to the chapel. It particularly affects those in mobility scooters.
County highways department will be asked to paint white lines on the road to highlight the spot as done in on the High Street in front of gateways.
SALVATION ARMY - Parish councillors agreed to donate £25 to the Salvation Army for its work within the village.
DIAMOND JUBILEE - The Queen’s jubileee committee plans to give a commemorative coin to each child. The parish council and Village Trust will pay for the hiring of a marquee for celebrations on the playing field and fund the purchase of 400 commemorative mugs to give out to each child in the parish. More help and sponsorship is welcome from businesses and organisations. Copies of an historic film of village life will also be available.
OUTREACH EVENT - NKDC outreach team will be visiting the playing field on April 11 with The Pod bus and the mobile skate park to entertain youngsters for the day.
FUNDING - A pot of £3,000 is available to be spent on sustainable antisocial behaviour solutions as plans to site a second youth shelter on the playing field were scrapped. Parish councillors will be meeting with youth service leaders to come up with suitable ideas for the cash before the March 31 deadline.
