A CHARITY which helps families in need were given a big boost last week thanks to some friendly Lions.

Sleaford and District Lions presented the New Life Community Larder with a cheque for £500 to help them continue their good work providing emergency food hampers to people who have fallen on hard times.

Lions president Mick Lawes and community services director Ken Coaton presented the cheque to Rod and Ann Munro of the Community Larder at their premises on Mareham Lane, Sleaford.

Mick said: “We always try and support those people who really need help. This does not always mean individuals but also organisations that can offer support to the needy in our community.

“The Community Larder is certainly one of these when you look at the excellent work they do in supporting the needy in Sleaford and the local area.”

Rod said: “The money from the Lions will be very helpful, especially as we’ve had a very busy January, with a lot of families coming forward since Christmas.”
