Marker posts could be answer to road damage roadside
Ruts, pot holes and flytipped sacks in the slip road layby off the A153 near Anwick.
COUNTY council highways officials are considering doing more to preserve the verges of a layby.
An Anwick resident contacted the Standard, fed up with the constant damage being done to the edges of the slip roads off the A153 leading into a country lane between Anwick and the Haverholme turn off.
Mr M. Shearing of Golden Close, Anwick, sent in photographs of ruts, pot holes and flytipped rubbish on the roadside. Most of the damage he claims is being done by lorries parking overnight or longer.
He says: “I have tried via North Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire County Council to stop the parking which results in not only damage but is at times a danger to other motorists. Every so often the damage is repaired but soon returns to the norm.”
He questioned if this could be the worst site of its kind in the county or did others know of worse.
A county highways spokesman told the Standard: “We are aware of the issues with this section of the road and do repair it routinely. There is nothing to stop drivers parking there, but they do so at their own risk.
“We are considering placing marker posts on the verges to try and stop the damage that’s been caused since the road layout was changed some years ago.”
