More concerns about power plant pipes

MORE concerns have surfaced about a proposal by renewable energy firm Eco2 to run pipes from its new straw burning power plant to provide free heat to Sleaford Leisure Centre, Indoor Bowls Club and Sleaford Town Football Club.

The Standard reported last week how Kirkby La Thorpe Parish Council was unhappy about missing out on free heat for its school and church.

Sleaford Town Council’s applications committee has supported the scheme which would see heating pipes running under the path alongside Boston Road from the site of the new plant, due to be operational in 2013. But they had reservations about the quality of insulation around the pipes, fearing that heat escaping might cause the ground to dry out and crack the path or road surface.
