CYCLISTS and walkers were aiming to give their local churches a helping hand by taking part in the Lincolnshire Churches Trust annual sponsored bicycle Ride and Stride event on Saturday.

Half of the money raised by participants will go to their own nominated church and half to the Trust, which offers help to religious buildings all over Lincolnshire by offering grants to carry out repairs.

Participants could stop off at as many churches as they chose, with St Andrew’s Church in both Cranwell and Leasingham among the churches which were opening their doors to offer refreshments to cyclists and walkers.

Among those taking part were Edward and Jim Clarke, who started at Cranwell Church, and Barbara and George Parr, who set off from Leasingham.
