HELPRINGHAM’S new vicar raised money for two good causes when he sang at his local pub.

The Rev Chris Harrington is the new vicar of Helpringham and Heckington groups of parishes and put on a sing-along event at the Nag’s Head in Helpringham with £237.42 of the donations for entry going to Christian Aid and £400 going to the Helpringham Church Bell fund.

It was a great night with lots of people attending to support the cause. The church needs to raise £6,000 for a new bell. Local businessmen Dennis Pell and Mark Robinson gave it a boost by each donating £200 to the appeal.

The singing vicar performed for two-and-a-half hours and was well received by locals, according to pub licensee Jim Bonsor.

Rev Harrington is in charge of a total of eight parish churches and had vowed to help raise money for whatever was needed in the village.
