Take part in local Sport Relief action

Tuesday 1pm - MABLETHORPE'S Sports Relief Weekend is taking place from this Friday to Sunday, March 21, with three days of energy, entertainment and events.

East Lindsey District Council Neighbourhood Management is set to host one of Sainsbury's National Sport Relief Miles on Sunday March 21, and needs local people to show their support by entering.

The Mablethorpe one, three and six Mile races set off from outside the Lifeboat Station on the main promenade.

There is a 10:30am start for those participating in the one mile race with the three and six mile race setting off at 11am. The price for entering is 5 for adults, 2 children or 12 for a family entry, which includes two adults and two children

Portfolio Holder for Health at ELDC, Coun Sandra Harrison, said: "The Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile in Mablethorpe is here and it's your time to shine.

"From teeny-tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock there's something for everyone on the big day. Best of all, the money you raise by getting sponsored and entering will be used to transform lives forever, so come on everyone rise to the challenge!"

Hundreds of thousands of people across the country are expected to rise to the challenge at the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile. Comic Relief will spend the money raised through sponsorship helping poor and vulnerable people both here in the UK and across the world's poorest countries.

Entry forms can be collected from Mablethorpe Library, Information Centre or Sports Centre or enter via www.sportsrelief.com.
