Time to reward all the unsung heroes

THERE is still plenty of time to nominate those unsung heroes for the Sleaford Town Awards.

Over the past 12 months many people have contributed to the Sleaford community and the town, often giving up much of their own time to help others.

Such people tend not to seek accolades or any thanks for their efforts but we feel they are deserving of recognition.

It is with that in mind Sleaford Town Council and the Sleaford Standard have teamed up to re-launch the Sleaford Town Awards to reward the people who contribute the most to our town and community.

We are inviting people to nominate candidates for a range of categories in the coming weeks.

There are 13 award categories in total - the full list of categories is given at the foot of this report.

If you know of any individual, charity or business that you feel is worthy of an award, make sure you put their name forward. Eligible candidates must live in Sleaford, Quarrington or Holdingham or work in the town.

You can nominate someone or a group, charity or business by picking up a form from the Sleaford Standard, 28 Handley Street, Sleaford or from the Sleaford Town Council offices, 3 Mill House, Carre Street, Sleaford telephone the Standard on 01529 413646 or the town council on 01529 303456 and a form will be posted to you.

In the charity section there are three separate awards to recognise the efforts of people who help children or the elderly, or who generally to good charitable work.

These dedicated volunteers often give many hours of their own time. Should you know of anyone who selflessly devotes their time in the cause of charity, make sure you put their name forward for an award.

One of the new awards that has been introduced will acknowledge the tremendous work of the teachers in our local schools.

If you attend school in Sleaford, or your child attends a Sleaford school, and you know of a teacher who is particularly outstanding, nominate them for the Teacher of the Year Award.
