Villagers planning early Jubilee party

VILLAGERS in Wilsford are planning to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee a week early.

They are having entertainment and games for all this coming Saturday at Wilsford Village Hall.

Organisers decided to hold the event a week early because so many people were going away for the long Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.

Events start at 2.30pm, with a competition for best decorated crown, bicycle or scooter.

After that there is a selection of games and competitions outside the hall, if the weather is fine, or inside if wet. These include beanbags, hoopla, dice-tippler and a quiz.

Inside the hall there will be musical entertainment from 2.45pm to 4pm by Les Walton on the keyboard.

At 4.15pm the village will be planting a Jubilee oak sapling on the playing field and at 4.30pm there is a free tea for all in the village hall.

All children in the village are to receive a Jubilee souvenir coin.

* What is your community planning for the Jubilee? If you have not already been in touch, contact the Standard on 01529 413646, giving details of your event.

We will be running a pre-Jubilee feature in next week’s paper on all the local events we know about.
