AS you enter the village of Leasingham you will soon be greeted by a sea of beautiful flowers thanks to the efforts of some keen gardeners.

The Leasingham and District Gardening Group has joined forces with members of the Leasingham WI to revamp a piece of land with the aim of turning it into a floral focal point.

Together the two groups have joined the Community Growing Campaign and earmarked an area of land near the right-hand turn into the village off the A15 coming from Sleaford.

The first stage of the make-over was undertaken on Saturday by gardening group members, which involved scarifying the ground and some planting.

The growing campaign is part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom scheme to encourages groups in the UK to brighten up their communities in Jubilee year.

To help with their project the Leasingham volunteers have been given some seeds by the RHS and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.
