ORGANISERS are busy preparing for a weekend of celebrations to mark the 80th birthday of a community centre.

The St Botolph’s Community Centre in Grantham Road, Sleaford, formerly known as Quarrington Parish Hall, was built on October 6 1932. To celebrate 80 years of the hall, the committee is organising a programme of events and activities on Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7.

On the Saturday they will be running their own Antiques Road Show event at the hall from 10am to 12.30pm, with valuations carried out by Golding, Young and Mawer, as seen on BBC Bargain Hunt.

During Saturday morning there will also be displays of kick-boxing and karate and by the pre-school play group.

In the afternoon, you can join in the fun by taking part in Morris dancing and Zumba workshops.

The weekend celebrations will conclude with a special Harvest Festival service at the community centre, starting at 11am, followed by a harvest lunch when St Botolph’s School choir will provide some of the music.

For the occasion there will be a display of photographs to illustrate the history of the centre. If you have attended special occasions at the hall over the years, such as a birthday or anniversary, VE Day celebration or Coronation party and you have photographs and memorabilia that could be used in the display, contact Suzanne Tyrrell on 07522 055567 or by email at stbotshall@aol.com
