PUPILS of Aveland School in Billingborough were proudly wearing their brand new basketball team strip back in June 1987.

The several hundred pounds needed to buy the strip and equipment needed was raised from a sponsored shooting event.

The school was then able to enter teams in the under 14 and under 16 schools competitions and several of their players were recommended for a place at the Guinness School of Basketball in Northampton.
