NOSTALGIA: Panto time at Helpringham in 1988
Dick Whittington and his Cat the pantomime by Helpringham Amateur Dramatic Society in 1964.
There was no need to visit a large town or city when Helpringham people could enjoy their own home-grown pantomime.
Members of Helpringham Amateur Dramatic Society put on a splendid show back in January 1988 – Dick Whittington and his Cat – in the village hall for two nights and were then going to take it to other villages.
Can you recognise these amateur actors and actresses? The part of Dick was played by Margaret Robinson (centre) and the leading lady was Joan Hotchkin. The dame was played by Basil Foster (not in camera shot) as he was also the shows producer. This was taken during rehearsals.
