A NEW film starring Pete Postlethwaite and directed by the acclaimed Franny Armstrong of 'McLibel' fame is coming to Rauceby.
The Rauceby Little Footprint Initiative, a village scheme to reduce its impact on the environment, is presenting an indie film screening of The Age Of Stupid, an epic docudrama which has been four years in the making.
The film is set in 2055 and
stars Pete Postlethwaite, of Brassed Off fame. He is an archivist, living alone in a very different world, sifting through the evidence of the past while posing the question, “We could have saved ourselves, but we didn’t. What state of mind were we in, to face extinction and simply shrug it off?”
Jonathan Hoare of the Rauceby Little Footprint Initiative said: “We are really looking forward to screening the Age Of Stupid. It’s a very compelling subject and one which the RLFI was borne out of.
“People are still in denial. They can’t see the connection as to how on earth the way we live our lives can have an impact on climate change.
“I believe that we will all get the point. We will all make the changes to the way we live, to the economy and to find respect for not only this exquisite planet on which we live, but also respect for ourselves and our children’s future.
“We need more films like this. People need to be shocked.”
He said: “The only way to make a difference is by starting from today. Then we will have a degree of a chance. If we all work together as individuals, as community groups, as a nation to solve climate change. There is so much we can do, it is not just about changing a light bulb or buying a more economic washing machine. The RLFI does not have all the answers but we are working them, and we are all committed to making the difference.”
The Age of Stupid is showing at the Rauceby Village Hall in South Rauceby on Saturday July 11 at 7pm. There is a limit of 100 tickets. Advance booking is available by calling 01529 488508.
