THE inventor of the autogyro Little Nellie - star of the James Bond film You Only Live Twice - will be winging his way to the Sleaford area for a talk to aviation enthusiasts.
Wing Commander Ken Wallis has created a fleet of the tiny propeller-driven open-cockpit aircraft but will always be remembered for his part in the classic Bond gadget and will be talking to a meeting of the Friends of Metheringham Airfield.
He had a varied RAF career both as an operational pilot and post ar engineer.
Despite impaired eyesight he flew Lysanders on army co-operation duties and Wellington bombers from Britain and Middle east.
The lecture will be in the old gymnasium at the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, at Martin Moor, on Wednesday July 22 at 7.30pm. Admission is free to members, non-members £4.
