Thursday 5.50pm - THE next open gardens event in aid of the British Red Cross has been cancelled.
The charity event at Leasingham Manor was due to take place this Sunday, but that has had to be cancelled at late notice after it was discovered the house would be shrouded in scaffolding needed to repair damage caused by last month's earthquake.

Red Cross senior fundraiser Janice Buckthorpe said it would be unsafe and so they will try and hold an alternative date later in the year.
Over £1,000 was raised for the British Red Cross when the owners of Rauceby Hall held an open gardens event last weekend.

The day raised £1,018 when Gill Hoare allowed the public to look around her landscaped grounds and parkland with its beautiful lake and wild garden.

Mrs Buckthorpe was very pleased saying that the spring-like weather helped enormously, as did the added attraction of spring lambs and daffodils to see.

She said: "We normally do well, but not that well so it was a good start to our year."

The next open garden will be at the home of Peter Reeve at Leadenham House, Leadenham.

It will be open from 2-5pm on April 13 when spring flowers and shrubs should be out in the garden surrounding this fine Georgian house.

A reflection of the church will be seen in the garden pond and there are magnificent views towards Nottinghamshire. The church will be open with access from the garden.

There will be a plant stall by Jenny Booth's The Flower Stall.
Admission is £3, accompanied children free.
