AN upcoming visit by a cappella group Umdumo Wesizwe from Zimbabwe has inspired young musicians at a village primary school.
Headteacher of Chestnut Street School in Ruskington, Christine Breckon, said: “Our steel band runs as a club in the evenings and we now have some very enthusiastic musicians who are very excited about the African group coming to the village.”

Umdumo Wesizwe can be seen in concert at the Coteland’s School, Ruskington this Friday at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the concert are £8 (£6 student/concession and £4 children up to 12) and available from The Hub Arts and Crafts Centre, Sleaford on 01529 308710, Ruskington Rectory on 01526 832463 or Chestnut Street School on 01526 832424.

The 10-man group will perform songs of love, hope, worship, courtship, hardship and African social commentary in a variety of music styles from Afro pop to jazz, R&B to reggae.
