CHILDREN took a step back in time at a Sleaford school when they dressed up as Egyptians and Vikings.
Pupils in Years Three and Four at St Botolph’s Primary School, Quarrington, took part in a history day event where they dressed up and took part in a number of activities related to their historic topics.
The children turned up as mummies, slaves and Viking warriors.
Teacher Helen Harris said Year Three had been studying Vikings in their history lessons, while pupils in Year Four have been learning about ancient Egypt.
To mark the end of their topics, the children were invited to turn up in costume and spent the day doing art and craft activities.
Year Three pupils made Viking shields, tried their hand at rune writing and tasted some Nordic food, before going on a raid around the other classes brandishing their weapons and shields.
Children in Year Four made Egyptian jewellery and clay sculptures and tried tomb painting and hieroglyphics. They also tasted examples of the type of foods eaten in ancient Egypt.
