UPDATE Friday 9pm - A PROMISING 18-year-old singer/songwriter and guitarist has stepped out into the spotlight with a solo project CD and has already found himself appearing on BBC Radio Lincolnshire's Friday Night Mix.
Jamie Day of Rowan Close, Sleaford has played a few gigs around Lincoln including open mics and the Youngplugged at the Drill Hall, Lincoln, and more dates are coming up around the country. He has got together his own band to accompany him too and is currently taking bookings for gigs.

With the release last month of his first four track EP, Out Of Enemies, on his MySpace site and a recent spot at a Lincoln event, Jamie came to the attention of local radio and did a live session with presenter James Wickham tonight (Friday) playing a number of his own songs including one for which he had only penned the lyrics today.

On the strength of it he was offered a gig at The Lincolnshire Poacher venue in Lincoln while still on air.

Jamie said: "I enjoy playing guitar and singing and writing my own music. I have been doing this by myself and with a few bands for years now.

"I have recently 'come out of the closet' with my music, and so far things have been great."

He has written about 15 songs – mainly acoustic indie, some of which he admits still need work.

The artwork for his EP cover was produced with the help of a friend. The four tracks involve two guitar parts and drums, you can hear some of the songs on his myspace site - just go to www.myspace.com/jamiedaysolo and listen.

One song is about his day, another about a girl, one about London and one about how Jamie's life is moving on. He says: "I wrote these songs about my life, people in it, things that will happen or won't and about made-up stories. The EP has been professionally recorded and I am very happy with the songs."

It is available for £2.50 plus postage via his website. Only 50 have been made, all individually hand numbered, so get one before they go.
