EDITOR-The remarks made by Mr Ridler of Mid UK Recycling regarding the fire at Caythorpe cause concern when the photograph in the Standard report of May 14 shows billowing black smoke from burning plastic, which we know is highly toxic and contains carcinogenic material.

To imply this is non-hazardous and non-toxic is very dangerous.

If the remarks reflect the company attitude to the environmental impact of emissions then public concerns raised regarding the consequences of the waste burning project for this site would appear to be totally justified.
