THE stunning live performance of a major new drama with music that uses Lincolnshire’s myths, legends and rural heritage as its inspiration has been captured on film and can be seen in Sleaford.
Golden Fables 2012 was premiered to a standing ovation at the SO Festival in Skegness and within two days the film of the event, which also features interviews with the poets and musicians, was ready for its first screening.
The film is now touring the county and comes to the National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford on Wednesday July 18 at 7.30pm. It will also be screened at St Andrew’s Parish Church in Leasingham on Saturday July 21 at 7pm.
Executive producer David Lambert says: “The film allows the audience to really appreciate the music and acting and also the wonderful, specially-drawn images and animations which were screened.”
He said with such a large cast, the film has allowed them to share it with so many more people.
The production features inspirational words by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and specially-written Fables by nationally-known poets Ian McMillan, Gillian Clarke and Liz Lochhead, who were asked to re-interpret some of Lincolnshire’s traditional stories for the 21st century, all set to music by notable composers.
The works are sung a capella by the 90-strong Choir Invisible (which has many members from the Sleaford area) – The Desmond and Leah Tutu Peace Choir and Choir Vibe. The performance also features well-known actors, animation, music and film.

Tickets for the Leasingham screening are £3.50 from the village post office, newsagents and members of the parochial church council.
