A golden age of radio revived
Straight from the West End to Leadenham - the Fitzrovia Radio Hour.
Recreating the unique spirit of 1940s radio plays and brilliantly evoking a dinner-jacketed age of casual imperialism and stiff upper lips, The Fitzrovia Radio Hour’s brand new show arrives in Leadenham.
This is the latest stop on a tour fresh from three critically acclaimed London West End residencies and two sell-out years at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Performed with cut-glass theatricality blending homage and satire, Fitzrovia mixes the chauvinist attitudes of 1940’s Britain with sharp contemporary humour to produce a heady comic cocktail.
Throughout the show, sound effects are created live by the cast: a Bakelite hairdryer imitates a heating torch, a desk fan becomes an aeroplane and multiple types of cabbage help to stage a fight scene.
Stories include Nazi firemen in London and Tin. Rippingly good fun this show will be coming to Leadenham Village Hall on Saturday October 20 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £9, £8.50 concessions.
On this occasion no supper will be provided prior to the show, but a wine and juice bar will be open from 6.45pm.
