All that jazz

THERE is an added treat for jazz fans with an extra concert being held in St Denys' Church, Sleaford.

For the last 15 years live concerts of traditional jazz have been staged in the parish church in the autumn and there will be another in October. But on Saturday May there will be a visit from well known Omega Jazz Band from Nottingham as part of the Sleaford Live Festival.

The band is well established with band leader and trombonist Frank Hindley and guitarist Ian Wheatley being founder members. Trumpeter Brian Boles live in Silk Willoughby having played on cruise liners.

They are joined by Johnny Johnstone (clarinet, tenor saxophone and vocals), Don Gwinnett (piano), John Porter (double bass) and Steve Upton (drums) who has already appreared in the church with the Saratoga Jazz Ensemble.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and the bar will be open from 7pm. Tea and coffee will be available in the intervals.
