Blankney Hunt brings out the crowds for traditional Boxing Day meeting

The hounds, horses and riders of the Blankney Hunt met this morning (Boxing Day) for their annual meet, setting off from Sleaford Market Place.

Riders and followers gathered for a post Christmas toast watched by hundreds of local supporters, before heading out into the countryside towards Evedon and Ruskington.

The number of riders was about on a par with previous recent years with the weather being bright and sunny after heavy rain in recent days.

To comply with government hunting laws, the hunt travels with a bird of prey rather than allowing the hounds to go in for a kill.
