Petrol heads and modified car enthusiasts gave their own dignified tribute in memory of young Sleaford man Dean Hocking.

He died in a car crash in December as a passenger along with a friend.

As well as his rock band, Nightvision, Dean, 23, was also a big fan of modified cars and a member of car club, Rusko Racing. On Thursday night friends organised a reunion of members with support from Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership to celebrate Dean’s life.

Co-organiser Thomas Cook said: “Dean was a big fan of cars and the Road Safety Partnership were very supportive in helping us organise the meet.”

Staged in the North Kesteven District Council offices car park, hundreds attended and Thomas said it was about creating safety awareness for young drivers.

There was information about avoiding accidents and their effects as well as the 2Fast2Soon simulator giving the experience of being involved in a smash. There were motoring organisations and accessory shops too. Dean’s step-dad, Steve Bowden, presented the trophy for the best turned out car on the night
