HUNDREDS of car fans turned out to see the Batmobile, Herbie and Knight Rider’s KITT at the AW Repair Group family charity fun event on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

Batman, Batgirl and the Easter Bunny also popped along to meet visitors at the new high tech crash repair facility which relocated to Commercial Way on Sleaford Enterprise Park in February.

People travelled from across the county and beyond all hoping to win the chance to ride through Sleaford in their chosen star car. Lucky raffle winners were Alex Schofield, 9, of Cranwell in Herbie; Daniel Miles, 7, of Sleaford in the Batmobile and Shane Ellis, 24, of Sleaford in KITT.

Other fund-raising exhibits, including guess the number of balloons in the courtesy car to win £50 cash and the chance to win Porsche and LandRover experience days, contributed towards the figure of around £1,500 raised at the event, with more money set to come in. The proceeds will be split between the NSPCC and Joel’s Quest.

Event co-ordinator Emma Walsh said: “We had a fantastic turnout and the weather held for us. We have raised in the region of £1,500 but still have some corporate donations coming through from representatives of UK insurers and fleet management companies who came to our official corporate opening on Wednesday.”
