Concert season back with pianist from Oz

SLEAFORD Music Club resumes its concert schedule after the Christmas recess with a performance by Australian pianist Daniel De Borah.

The recital will take place at the Civic Suite, North Kesteven District Council offices, Eastgate, Sleaford on Friday February 10 at 7.30pm. This is a week earlier than printed in the club’s annual brochure.

Daniel de Borah divides his time between Australia and the UK where he is in great demand as a recitalist and concerto soloist. Daniel studied at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, the St Petersburg State Conservatoire and with Tatyana Sarkissova at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with distinction in 2006. In 2005 he was selected for representation by the Young Classical Artists’ Trust.

Concert secretary Barbara Lyon commented: “We are delighted to welcome Daniel back to Sleaford. He is in Europe for only four concerts on this occasion, the first of which took place at the Barbican. His programme will include the Mozart Fantasy in C minor K475, Chopin Ballades and Mazurkas and Brahms Variations on an Original Theme, Opus 21.”

Daniel has won numerous awards including the piano section of the Royal Overseas League Competition, London in 2007. In recent seasons Daniel has given recitals at major venues and festivals throughout the UK, including return visits to Wigmore Hall, concerts at Bridgewater Hall, the Purcell Room, St David’s Cardiff, St George’s Bristol, the Brighton, Newbury and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. His concerto work has included appearances with the English Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players and with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Non-members are welcome with entry on the door at £10 (£9 concessions).
