Craft activities a holiday hit

FAMILIES enjoyed a creative day of craft activities at the National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford.
The special bank holiday event saw well over 500 people take part in a variety of activities laid on during the afternoon.
Jayne Olney from the centre said most people had a go at the hands on craft activities led by five professional artists.
Children loved willow weaving with James Sutton, making sculptures of animals and monsters, and textile artist Wendy Bentley had visitors making fabric collage postcards. Phiona Richards helped people make their own windmills from recycled paper and magazines, while Extreme NK brought giant board games.
Linked to the Transformers exhibition, they set up a court for the Paralympic sport of bocchia (bowls for wheelchair users). Mrs Olney said: “We hoped people would have fun while considering sport from a wheelchair user’s view.”
There was some manic storytelling from Rhubarb Theatre’s Kirsty Mead. Roald Dahl’s Enormous Crocodile was a big hit, with the children getting involved.
Mrs Olney said it had been a great success and attracted more new visitors to the centre.
