MEMBERS of a local youth club enjoyed a day of thrilling activities after a year-long fund-raising campaign.

Young people who attend the RAF Cranwell Youth Club held fund-raising events to raise the money needed to fund a visit to PGL activity centre at Caythorpe.

They ran a games activity stall at a summer fete in July last year and an Easter Egg bingo session this year. Thanks to those events they made £583.10 altogether to fund their trip.

Earlier this month 15 youth club members headed to PGL and took part in a variety of fun activities, including the challenge climb, where they scaled a telegraph pole, aerial ball and the giant swing.

Youth worker Taz Walker said: “We wanted to give the youngsters a project they fund raised for themselves to demonstrate how much effort and money goes into organising a trip, and to help them understand money a bit more.”

The youth club is run by the RAF and supported by Airplay, which offers support to military youngsters aged between eight and 18, particularly when they have parents who are serving overseas.
