Discover the post-war decade

THE age of austerity, sporting heroics with Roger Bannister’s record-breaking mile, a London Olympic Games and royal milestones with the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth; it could be said that the years immediately following the Second World War have much in common with the current era.

Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre is holding a day dedicated to the post-Second World War decade where visitors can discover more about how different – or similar – this time was to today through a range of informative exhibitions and interactive displays.

Visitors to the Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre on Sunday July 22 will also have the chance to view period news reels and a fairground organ in action, and see staff and volunteers dressed in costumes from this post-war period.

Alongside the interactive displays there will be a range of children’s games and activities, plus the opportunity to try tasty treats from the era.

Entitled ‘After the War Was Over’ the event runs from 10.30am until 3.30pm at the heritage centre at Heath Farm, North Rauceby. Admission is free and refreshments will be available.

For further information, contact the centre on 01529 488490 between 10.30am until 4.30pm.
