Drill Hall concert date
UNDER the direction of Squadron Leader Chris Weldon, the Band of the RAF College Cranwell and RAF Swing Wing will perform their first ever combined evening concert in the Lincoln Drill Hall next month.
Although RAF Swing Wing is a well-established Royal Air Force ensemble with the Lincoln community.
Chris Weldon (Director of Music) says: “This will be the first time the full military band has performed together at the venue. Consequently, in this special Diamond Jubilee and Olympic year, we will be celebrating in traditional Royal Air Force style with some superb musical arrangements and entertainment for all ages.”
Highlights of the programme will include Matthew Walker singing the music of Matt Monro, along with stunning band arrangements from the film scores of Ennio Morricone. The concert will also feature the first performance of “Journey Through Europe”, which is a new musical arrangement taking the audience on a musical journey across the continent. Music from the big screen continues with Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and the traditional Dambusters March, and of course no such concert would be complete without the music of Glenn Miller.
Concert starts at 7.30pm on Friday October 12. Advanced booking recommended, tickets priced at £12 (£10 concessions) on 01522 873894 (www.lincolndrillhall.com) proceeds to RAF Music Charitable Trust.
