Festival of village arts and crafts

ASLACKBY Art and Crafts Festival has received lots of entries and organisers are hoping for a fantastic event over the weekend.

The festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday in St James’ Church in Aslackby from 11am to 5pm.

In addition the gardens at the Manor House will be open on Sunday June 17 having recently featured in Country Life magazine.

Over 100 original paintings will be displayed along with original local work on 10 craft stalls, giving a chance to view and buy unique local art and crafts while experiencing the beauty of the Manor House garden. Homemade cakes and refreshments will be available on both days as well as the sale of the popular Aslackby honey and selected plants.

Villagers have worked hard over the years raising funds to install toilets, heating and a kitchen area in St James Church to ensure it is a central part of village life. Proceeds from the festival will go towards the ongoing upkeep of the church.

A preview evening will be held on Friday June 15 from 7pm–9pm. Tickets are £4 for entry and a glass of wine. To reserve a ticket and for more information call 01778 440183 / 440676.
