Football author to whip up Olympic spirit in libraries
A POPULAR children’s writer will be helping county kids get into the Olympic spirit with a series of free events this month.
As part of the Cultural Olympiad - the arts programme celebrating the London Olympic Games in 2012, author Tom Palmer will be appearing at libraries and mobile stops across the county during the February half-term.
The author of football fiction, such as the Football Academy and Foul Play series, Tom also has an international reputation for his work in getting children interested in books.
He will be appearing at Sleaford library on Wednesday February 15 at 10am and then at Heckington mobile library stop at 2pm. He will be at Metheringham library at 1.30pm on Friday February 17.
Jonathan Platt, head of libraries and heritage, said: “We’re all excited about the Olympics and the torch coming to Lincolnshire. These library events encourage kids to give reading a go and build on this once-in-a-lifetime event. It’s also a great way to keep them entertained over the half-term holidays without breaking the bank.”
