Adapted by Philip Goulding from the 1953 Ealing comedy film of the same name, The Titfield Thunderbolt will be brought to the stage by Sleaford Little Theatre next month.
The localised play is about a group of Lincolnshire villagers who find that their branch railway line is about to be axed and subsequently decide to buy and run the railway themselves with financial support from a wealthy local who enjoys a ‘tipple or three’.
As well as convincing the railway authorities that they are competent to work the line, they have to
face problems from Vernon Crump who is set on providing a competitive bus service.
The play is suitable for all ages and as a member of the audience you’ll become the passengers on the train, passengers on the bus and attendees at the village public meeting. But which form of transport will you support?
The show runs from December 11 to 15 with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Tickets are on sale at Soft Options in Sleaford Market Place, but be quick to avoid disappointment. You can pay and reserve your ticket via debit or credit card and collect from Soft Options or on the evening of your performance from the Playhouse (on Westgate).
