Harmstock ready to rock

HARMSTOCK FESTIVAL - The ninth annual Harmstock Charity Beer and Music Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Thorold Arms in Harmston.

Julie Haycroft and Alison Welch, owners of the pub, are holding the event once again after the success of the 2011 event, and this year money will be raised for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

There will be live music throughout the weekend and a wide selection of real ales and ciders to sample, as well as a variety of hot food available.

ANNUAL SHOW - The Harmston Annual Show will be held in the Memorial Hall on Saturday, September 1. Whether your talent is for baking or jam making, poetry or photography, sewing or growing, there’s a class for you.

The show will be open to the public at 2.30pm, and the trophy presentations taking place at 3.15pm. Schedules are avaialble from the Thorold Arms or you can obtain a schedule by calling 01522 723411

U3A NEWS - The Cliff Villages U3A held their August meeting at Harmston Memorial Hall, when Andrew Sankey gave a talk on the life of Lincolnshire-born botanist and explorer Joseph Banks.

The next meeting of the U3A will be held on Friday September 14, when the speaker will be Gerry Burrows. His talk will be on the topic of ‘Carl Fabergé, jeweller to the Czar’.
