Heckington Show 2012 on course to be huge success again - VIDEO

Waiting for Video...

THE first day of the 145th Heckington saw bumper crowds swell the showground rivalling the numbers that turned up for last year’s record breaking show.

The sun really had visitors in the mood to enjoy all the attractions, including the new Countryside Area with its falconry and owls, archery and dog displays.

The tug of war contest was absent this year due to a cancellation but donkey rides filled the space and proved equally popular.

In teh main ring there was spectacular stunts from the Mark Stannage Stunt Team and thrills from the cycling.

Show committee chairman Charles Pinchbeck said teh day had gone very well, it had been the previous few weeks that had been stressful with the anxiety and uncertainty of whether they could put on the show in wet weather.

The temporary surfaces did teh job though.

The evening firework concert was probably the best attended ever, according to musical director of Sleaford Concert Band Jim McQuade who led the crowd through everything from Abba, to sea shanties and finished off with the War of the Worlds to outstsanding pyrotechnics.

Don’t miss Sunday’s show.

Check out the video clip of the popular Billinger Ruffs who raised a laugh in the interlude at the concert, as well as at the music marquee during the day.
