How to make a concrete garden

A workshop with professional artists at the National Centre for Craft and Design, Sleaford, will help you to create a “Community Garden” made entirely from glass, textiles, mixed media and concrete.

Join Bethany Walker and Stevie Davies for the chance to create your own garden features by manipulating materials using various textile techniques perfected by Bethany. These will then be placed in moulds along with other inspirational objects and encased in cement.

While that is setting, you can get to grips with “wrapping, bashing and coiling” with Stevie to create shaped flowers with sparkling glass elements and colourful wire. Your chosen finished pieces will be added to the Community Garden which forms parts of the current exhibition in the Roof Gallery featuring the work of these two artists until February 10.

The two-hour workshops will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 10.30am and again from 1.30pm. Cost is £10 per person per session and is suitable for anyone aged 12 years and over. All equipment isprovided. Tel: 01529 308710.
