Jamie ready to sing in the Final at London’s O2

16 and Under Area Final

16 and Under Area Final

After ‘smashing it’ in Dewsbury last month, thirteen-year-old Jamie Chatterton is heading for the capital to become the next singing sensation.

Jamie, a Year Eight pupil at Carre’s Grammar School, will be performing at London’s O2 arena after successfully booking his place in the Grand Final of the Open Mic UK singing competition.

He took part in the North England and Scotland Area Final Showcases on Saturday, November 24 in Dewsbury against dozens of other talented youngsters, and was one of five in his age group to go through to the grand final.

To give him extra support, his sister Ellie and three of her friends featured as his backing dancers.

Feedback on Jamie’s performance from the judges included: “Well done for bringing entertainment value to the show.”

Now Jamie will be competing against 30 other youngsters in the Grand Final, which will take place in January, where the winners will receive thousands of pounds towards the development of their music.

He said: “I’m a bit nervous about performing in the Indigo Theatre in the O2 because it’s a much bigger venue and there will be loads more people in the audience but I’m also really excited because it will be an incredible experience.”
