Metheringham panto offers pirate fun for everyone

ARE you ready, me hearties? Tickets for Metheringham's 2010 pantomime, Pirate Treasure, are now available.

A specially written tale of high jinks on the high seas and a race between pirate ships to find the treasure, complete with all the usual panto personalities and features, will be performed by Metheringham Amateur Dramatics group at Metheringham Village Hall and by special invitation at Sleaford Little Theatre.

This year the annual panto takes inspiration from Treasure Island, Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan and any other pirate-related fiction. Pirate Treasure is written and directed by Ingrid Burns, who made her writing and directorial debut last year.

MAD's 18th consecutive pantomime is a typical tale of good against evil for all the family to enjoy.

Jimlad Golightly and his mother Semolina aquire a treasure map in lieu of payment from ne'er do well Pegleg Pete. They persuade Squire Le Tawny to finance an expedition to search for the treasure and set sail on the Sea Slug.

The fly in the ointment is the villainess Captain Jack Vulture who once had the map and wants it back.

There are various confrontations as all parties close in on the treasure island. Music, laughter and all the usual panto gags and fabulous costumes make for a lively colourful performance.

MAD regulars Graeme Pembery and Gaynor Little will be performing alongside newer faces such as Niall Davidson-Petch as the Dame.

You can pick up tickets from D and K News in Metheringham (Telephone 01526 320371) and Metheringham Info Links (Telephone 01526 323100) for the performances in Metheringham Village Hall on January 29 and 30 and February 5 and 6.

Prices are 5 for children and concessions and 6.50 for adults, with a family for two children and two adults at 20. Performances are at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturdays and at 7.30pm on Fridays January 29 and February 5.

MAD have been asked by Sleaford Little Theatre to perform the pantomime twice on Saturday, February 13 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm in the Playhouse on Westgate, Sleaford as well. Tickets for the Sleaford performances are available from the Tourist Information Centre, Money's Yard, Sleaford (Telephone 01529 414294), priced 7 for the gallery and 6 for the stalls, with a 1 reduction for concessions.
