Model aircraft are the stars

THE British Model Flying Association will once again be holding its annual National Championships and Model Aircraft Airshow at RAF Barkston Heath over the Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday to Monday.

The event is the largest of its kind in Europe, with around 400 competitors, and it offers a fun day out for the whole family. The main days for spectators are Saturday and Sunday.

As well as the thrills and spills of model racing, there will be more than 70 stalls selling a range of aeromodelling items, as well as an extensive modellers swapmeet on Sunday morning for those wanting to grab a bargain. There is also a supervised model building and flying workshop for children.

Gate entrance each day is £9 for adults and £6 for concessions. Under 18s are admitted free. For further details contact the BMFA office on 0116 2440028 or visit www.bmfa-nats.org or www.bmfa.org
