New singing group launched in village
IF you have been inspired by the likes of the Military Wives, have always wanted to have a go at singing as part of a choir or group, or if you are looking for a new interest where you will make friends and have fun, then there is a new singing group being set up for you.
The new group is being launched in Heckington and will meet in the village hall.
The Heckington Singers is open to everyone, whether or not you have previous singing experience, and whether or not you can read music or have ever done anything like this before.
It is promised to be a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where people can go together to sing pieces of music from across a wide musical spectrum – from traditional folk songs and spirituals to more up-to-date offerings, including popular music. All ages welcome.
The Musical Director will be John Lyon, an experienced musician and choral director. John has worked in education for 18 years and is used to working with musicians of all ages and abilities.
He is also organist of St Andrew’s Church, Heckington.
There is an open rehearsal to which everyone is welcome on Monday February 27 at 8pm in Heckington Village Hall.
Membership will be £1 per session. Heckington Singers are affiliated to Heckington Players, the village’s successful drama group.
