New unsigned band on a crusade to the 02 Arena
METHERINGHAM musician Chris Pearson and his new band The Lounge Crusade are in the regional final of an unsigned band competition with the chance of playing at London's O2 Arena.
The Lounge Crusade are a Lincoln-based band who have been together since mid-2009, mainly made up of former members of Lincoln band The Idlers, who played Leeds Festival in 2007 before splitting up, and have actually only played two local gigs to date.
Last Sunday (January 17), the band travelled to Sheffield to play the first round of 'Live and Unsigned 2010' at the City Hall.
The band were chosen to progress to the regional final on Sunday March 21, with around 60 other bands, from over 300 entrants.
From here the band have a chance to win new equipment, video shoots, recording contracts, and mostly a performance at London's O2 Arena.
The format is similar to that of X Factor and judges for the finals include Radio 1's Greg James and Big Brother's Dane Bowers.
Chris said: "We are the only Lincolnshire band to enter, as far as we are aware."
The five piece play melodic and anthemic rock music and want to write and play quality original music. They have just finished recording a five track demo which you can hear on their myspace website at: www.myspace.com/theloungecrusade
As well as Chris on lead guitar, there is Jason Parker on drums from Gainsborough, Nathan Berger on acoustic guitar and lead vocals, Joel Berger on piano, keyboards and backing vocals, and Steven Esberger on bass all from Lincoln.
They are currently booking gigs around the country and will be playing the Dublin Castle in London on February 4, the Mezz bar, Lincoln on February 7 and of course the Live and Unsigned gig at Sheffield City Hall on March 21 from 5.45pm.
