Do you recognise these Sleaford library staff from 1987?

The Sleaford Standard took a look behind the scenes as staff put the finishing touches to the town’s new library.

In 1987, the Market Place location was all set to replace the cramped, dusty den in Westgate.

It was to be computerised, had fitted carpets, colourful modern decor, an improved selection of books and was all on one floor.

The library is celebrating its 25th anniversary in its current location on Friday from 10am-5pm. View memorabilia, hear Sleaford Little Theatre reading extracts from Charles Dickens and the Sleaford Vintage Brass band performing Christmas carols. There is a design a bookmark competition for youngsters, a ‘memory book’ for visitors, plus a Christmas story-time and craft activity day on December 8 from 10.30am - 11.30am. Book on 01522 782010.
