Peggy's stitches add eastern touch
JAPANESE embroidery by a crafty villager has been on display at Fulbeck village hall.
The exhibition by Peggy Tacey was created using silk on silk and incorporates gold work.
She said: "It went well. I had a few pieces up for sale which didn't sell, but it doesn't matter because I love them all anyway."
Peggy was inspired to start Japanese embroidery after visiting the NEC in Birmingham and seeing a demonstration of gold work. She then travelled to Gloucestershire to have lessons. She said: "I have to buy my supplies from Atlanta in the USA from a Japanese family there who will only send patterns out to you if you have had lessons.
"It's not a very popular hobby in this country. It's different from normal embroidery because of the materials used and the different stitches."
